Well, since the records indicate that I've never posted, I might as well make my first post by saying hello to everyone.

Hello Everyone.

I don't have a boat, but I hope you don't mind if I hang out for the next ten years or so until I get one. I've looked at Rinkers, Carvers and Sea Rays. I think I've settled on an '08 Sea Ray 36 Sedan Bridge. But in 10 years it should be about the right price.

Dunno if that makes me a little strange or not, but I looked at Honda Goldwings for 7 years before I bought one 3 months ago. (But I did get an '08) So 10 years for that boat isn't too bad.

I do have access to a boat, I just don't own one. The in-laws have a 19 foot seadoo at Crooked Lake in Indiana. That's getting boring though, as there's not much to do except go in circles, do a little skiing, and unless you go to the Captain's Cabin for dinner, or Casey's Cove for fuel, you're basically stuck going in circles!

We live about 40 miles west of Toledo, so I'm thinkin' somewhere on the Maumee River in Toledo would be a good place to dock a boat. We also have one kid that just started college, and in two years, we'll have 3 kids in college. How we're going to eat, I have no idea...

I spent 9 years of my life traveling the left side of the world on a 500+ foot ship, that most of you here helped pay for. (...and if the IRS hasn't told you, I will. Thank you!) It was called the USS Chancellorsville (CG-62). It seemed we spent a lot of time in the Gulf of Oman or the Persian Gulf, but we went up to Alaska, and down to Panama, over to Hong Kong, China, Thailand, all over that general area, even got down to Australia once. The first time we were headed to Australia, we got called back to the gulf when all that broke out in the 90's. Talk about a bummer...

Anyway, I digress. I'm learning a lot reading here, but have a million questions, hope no one minds. Don't worry, I'll spread 'em out over the next ten years. That only comes out to be about 274 questions a day, so it shouldn't be too bad.

The Sea Ray Brochure showed up in the mail today, so I'm really depressed now.

Since I just scrolled up to see what I typed, I think I'll stop here for now before this turns into a novel, which I'm famous for doing.

Welcome anyway, LOL. Enjoy the site, and maybe you will decide to do OWT "on the water" training for your dream boat. I am working my way up, this is my first boat and although I havent had the urge to upsize yet, I know it will come. These guys have an incredible wealth of knowledge, and they willingly share as well as bash each other from time to time, but that keeps it interesting.
