The Greenville Boat Show isn't much of a show so bear with me.
The only Cruiser manufacturers they had were Chapparral and Sea Ray.
The 40 Sundancer is sweet! It can be yours for $425,000.......
After I picked up my Jaw I headed over to see Chapparral b/c I had never seen them in person.
The Sig330 is a fantastic Boat! I was shocked by the amount of room in the cabin. It has 2 tables and a couch that runs along the port side all the way around to the front of the cabin. You could sit 10 people down there. Aft through a door on the port side is a great private cabin w/ a double berth, changing area, and a seat. There's room for 2 to stand. I wasn't a fan of the wooden floor, it looked fake and creaked when you walked on it like it wasn't secured to the fiberglass underneath. To the starboard side of the steps is the bathroom w/ a good amount of room.
Up top the seating config is great. Double helm, port lounge, and b/c of the center entryway you get wraparound seating in the stern for 7-8 adults. The helm seat was a little too close to the helm itself and I couldn't tell if it slid but my knees were practically hitting. (I'm 6'2)
This boat blows away the new Sea Ray 330. It had more room up top and below. I hated the starboard side couch on the Sea Ray it's straight across with no curve so two people can't face each other to speak. The 330 can fit maybe 5-7 people down below if you are standing on each other. You can put 10-12 below on the Chap comfortably. Up top is no contest either. Sea ray maybe 8-9 people 10 for a squeeze. On the chap prob 11-12 people with seats.
The new 310da is awful too. The main thing that bugged me was the lack of use of the beam. The Couch downstairs seems like it's in the middle of the cabin! It seems like they could have moved it back about a foot. If the table is up don't plan on moving around much b/c there's no room! The aft sitting area is fine as long as you don't plan on having anybody else sit there with you. Again no use of the beam, everything was tight.
If I'm forking over the $ to have a boat of either of these sizes I would expect a lot more than what these boats had to offer.
For '08 Sea Ray has a real problem in between the 280 and 340. And I know how people feel about the 290, which I liked a lot. Didn't like the aft cabin on it though, it was a little too tight.
For my $ I would take the '08 Chap 330 over the Sea Ray 330. But I can't afford either.................... oh well
