With so many people in the water this year in crowded areas it can be very dangerous. So sad to hear a story like that.

I recently saw a small Jon boat that was dark in color with two guys fishing wearing dark clothes near dusk in the middle of the channel. Not excusing the big boat for running over him, but some of the stupidity I see from fisherman and where they fish is off the charts.

Sad and unfortunate. While we don't know exactly what happened in this case, I've seen people do some amazingly stupid things. Like a kayak'er in the San Diego Bay darting out in front of a guided-missile destroyer I was on, which displaces 9000 tons! Thankfully that ship is designed to slow down/stop very quickly, but freighters and cargo ships don't share that same capability. The ship's whistle probably caused them to have to change their shorts (judging by their reaction), so at least there was some amount of justice there.

Sad to hear about another deadly boating accident. I’ve been amazed at some of the things we’ve seen on the water this year in both power boats and kayaks. A few weeks ago we were coming back to the marina at dusk and picked something up on my radar by the entrance to the canal. I slowed down to no wake speed and saw it was a kayaker in a dark kayak wearing a black life jacket cutting across the canal in the bay. Not sure what people are thinking.

We took our boat to Pittsburgh Saturday and they have a pretty large no-wake area between bridges. There were about 75 boats anchored and this Ranger style fishing boat came through on plane weaving in and out of boats. We were rafted with 4 other boats but left earlier than the rest. My mother was in our boat but was told later that after they went home from their marina a boyfriend and girlfriend were on kayaks in front of their marina drunk. The girl fell out and was struggling and the owner of the marina was on her boat tied in their slip pretty close to where the girl was. The owner was yelling at the girl to grab the swim platform and the boyfriend started yelling at her for yelling at the girlfriend. Then one of the boats that had been rafted with us came through and almost ran her over.
