Got my 1st gen Alpha apart today, changed the impeller and some seals, greased splines etc, all looked great, then I remember AFTER taking it apart...I forgot to put the blasted thing in forward. So I decided to line it up and put it back together, it went back fine but it won't shift into gear. So I pull it back apart and the throttle lever still won't move. I decided that I needed to get it into forward but so far have been unsuccessful. Any ideas?:smt100

BTW- I took it apart at the lower unit, below the cavitation plate.

Look around and you should find the answer....I'm no expert but your drive should not have come off without it in forward gear. To put the drive back on you need to have it in forward gear by shifting it and locking it in gear by keeping pressure on the prop.

It's going to a mechanic tomorrow, I don't have time to deal with it and we're missing some amazing boating weather right now. Should be on the water in a couple weeks.
