Anodes

I am installing the anode set and I noticed that the are no holes in the bearing carrier or the trim cylinders to attatch them. What do you do in this situation? Second question is do the anodes have to be directly against bare metal or can I paint the area on the drive before I install them?

There should be no paint between anode and the metal it's protecting. The connection needs to be metal to metal.

If you can't install trim cylinder anode, you can use "shaft collar anode" on trim cylinder piston shaft. They are a two piece anode used on inboard drive shafts and available in several sizes. I have seen these used on Alpha and Bravo drives when the trim cylinder anode mounting flanges are corroded.

On the alpha's there is a little "coiled wire" that is inside the bushing where the trim cylinder is bolted to the housing. this wire ensures that the trim cylinders will be connected to the anodes. (I know I'm not using the correct lingo, and hope this is understandable?)
