On my 2006 240 Sundeck, I have been unable to make the Smartcraft display stay on Depth Finder...I can toggle the display to it from the steering control, but when we are under way it constantly switches out of that display and gives me the trim setting (which bounces around like crazy when underway)...

This is very annoying since we are often cruising where there can be sudden changes to very shallow, and except for the Depth Warning that set going off, I have no way to tell if it is getting shallower. I have tried to constantly keep pushing the steering control button to toggle to the depth, but it is often over-ridden by the trim setting, so I am constantly having to start over...plus I don't like having to keep looking down at the control panal toggling through all of the other displays to get back to the depth...

Honestly, I have tried to read the manual, and it is very difficult to follow to me...

David,

In your manual, go to the section for "Tachometer Calibration". There is an option for the "Trim Popup". Turn it off and then save the changes. That should fix your problem.

I don't have the manual with me but I'm pretty sure you are able to control trim reading displays and whether or not it will dipslay on a change of setting or not.. Mine only comes up for a few seconds when I change trim settings and then back to the previous display. (Could be I remember someone having this issue and there being some fitting or something letting the outdrive bounce so it changes the readings, thus displaying the trim setting constantly or soemthing to that effect)

Yep, check your trim fluid. I found if it gets just a bit low it will allow the drive to move just a bit which triggers the trim sensor.

HHmm...didn't know that.....It actually has been doing the trim fluctuation things as long as I can remember, and we have it serviced annually when they de-winterize...I will check the level, as I thought that was a normal thing to see it change all of the time (2-3-2-3.....etc...)
