Taking the family to Annapolis for a long weekend. Which is your favorite marina and why? Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

I live in Annapolis so I do not have any experience staying at local marinas. But hopefully I can provide some insight to your yet unanswered post.

You probably want to be downtown Annapolis. So your choice of marinas and their facilities is limited to marinas with no real amenities but walking distance to downtown. But you are downtown with a shower house. Annapolis City, Port Annapolis, Annapolis Yacht Basin, Sarles, Pier 4, .

The city has slips and mooring buoys that are a good choice. You can also anchor out which can get a little rough.

There is a very good water taxi service and free dingy dock.

Otherwise you have marinas that are a bit farther away that have pools, beaches, etc. -Mears, Chesapeake Harbour.

Enjoy

Get a slip at the City Docks - close to everything, and cheap, relatively speaking. But, they are first come, first served, and checkout is 11:00am, I think. Anyway, we usually show up about 10:00am, and have been able to get a spot each time. Annapolis is our all time favorite stop on the Bay!

We use the city docks as we belong to the Fleet Reserve Club and the FRA which is right right across ego alley. The showers are great and you are right in the middle of things. Easy walk to everything. We usually plan to arrive sometime Thursday to get a week end slip. Always full in the boating months.

I love the http://www.mearsannapolis.com/ in Annapolis. Water taxi stops there or you can walk to the city within 15min. And it has a great Pool which is key with the kids. Also has a free breakfast with a slip. :smt038

thanks again everybody, great feedback. i think we are going to stay at mears due to the location and pool for the little one!
