When you don't slow down when passing the marina. Our boat managed to come over much further than I ever thought it could, and ripped this part of the side off against the dock. In normal conditions, this would never have happened. Someone must have really made a tremendous wake for this to happen. Luckily we found the piece sitting on the dock and thank goodness it will be an easy fix.

Here are a couple more pictures I took from tonight. We practiced docking in a tight space to further our skills.

I think that could be an on going problem at your current slip. Can you get moved further back in to the marina. People on the waterway just don't slow down. Its not a no wake zone there.

I understand it isn't a no wake zone, it's just the courtesy aspect. We're pretty far back and I don't think we can get back any further. Usually by the time the wake gets to us it has dissipated quite a bit. We've had no problems except this one incident. I'll try making the stern lines a little tighter so it can't move as far.

Just out of curiosity, did you have fenders out? If you have fenders on the side of your boat against the finger pier your boat should never touch.

I'm well in a protected marina, but when the wind gets going or currents are strong my boat can bob and move from side to side. It never touches the dock.

Our boat had never touched the dock before. We always made sure of it each time we go out. I would always check the side to side movement and it never came close. Always checking the lines to make sure. We have fenders now. You can bet that won't be happening again! Just a learning experience I guess.

Contact AFD on this board. He found replacement end caps for the rub rail if you need some.

Could you pass the cheese?

I had to replace both of mine as it appeared my boat was a rental car from Enterprise in a past life. Dock rash all over it. I'll be great at patching gel coat by the end of this season with how many I still have to do.

It doesn't look like you're using a spring line to limit fore/aft movement. Your other lines might seem to position the boat properly for side to side movement but some fore/aft movement can change everything and some new slack is found...I wonder how I learned that:lol:

Well, First of all, I don't see any crackers or Nancey's hot mustard or pepperoni :smt021.

We use spring, bow, and crossed stern lines. Im still trying to figure out how the boat was able to bounce against the side finger dock with at least a foot and a half of clearance at all times when the lines are tight. It must have been one heck of a wake.

Also, I will post more cheese and crackers pics in the future! Haha

Sorry to see the damage. Still its your responsibility to protect your boat when docked. Fenders, dock bumpers, etc.

If you havent already purchased some new end caps I have some that were sent in error if you want them. Pretty certain they are the same as yours. No charge just PM your address.
Cheers from New Zealand.

And let's see the new sink not just the faucet.

The sink photo reminds me that I have to put a sink and faucet in the cockpit cabinet. Why would they not have done that at the factory is beyond me. Thanx.:smt024

The cheese and crackers looks awesome, but I LOVE the plates! Any idea who makes them (look on the back??) and/or where you found them?

We found them at Bed Bath & Beyond. I will be on the boat tomorrow so I'll tell you the brand then.
