All-
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I learned a few things while reading the thread:
1. Spelling counts to Sea Ray owners
2. I need to get a book of nots.....knots!
3. I am buying an anchor for the stern of my boat
4. This is the greatest place for baoting help
Thanks to all....off to the lake at noon tomorrow for the weekend!!
the word is mispelled....not mispelt.
Lordy, we need a flashing thread icon that shows when it (the thread) went off the
tracks. It would be an interesting study to see how many posts it takes for this to happen. I'm sure there are some statistics showing some kind of a trend - HA!
Great idea, but the threads that stay on track need to flash. Otherwise, we would all have epilectic seizures from watching the icons flashing all over the dang place.
We here at CSR are constant under-achievers. I'll bet it we put our minds to it, we could drive a thread off topic with in the first or second response.
Only in the US...though I did drop an "s", so I apologise for for having misspelt "misspelt"
I think apologize is spelt wrong. But what do I know?
Henry,
This is an interesting approach. I have a heck of time keeping my 280 anchored in wind due to the swinging. I point into the wind as you recommend but the swing always breaks me loose. The swing is identical to Gary's illustration but I tried his method with a homemade bridal and didn't have any luck. It seems like the bow cleats are too close on the 280 to absorb any of the swing.
Using Gary's illustration, would your suggestion look like the following?
Try it again. I used one several times this past season and it worked perfectly..

Was yours a homemade bridle? How did you connect it to the rode?
.
Yes it was home made... I put a figure eight on a bite in the anchor line, along with another one mid-way on the bridle connecting them with a locking D-ring For the bridle line I used a dock line connecting the starboard side cleat with the factory loop and another figure eight on a bite to the cleat on the port side. It worked great. we only swung (swang, swunged, swinged) a few degrees either way
