My wife and I have a weekend free with no children and were thinking about heading up to Chesapeake City. While I know there is a marina there as well a limited city dockage, has anyone had experience dropping anchor in this location? I understand the "cove" to be relatively small and limiting with respect to paying out enough scope.
My two questions are:
1. Can those of you who have anchored tell me about the general depth?
2. With limited scope options, is it usual (at this location) for those anchoring out to employ a stern anchor to eliminate swing?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Joe,
thank you for the links. I appreciate your taking the time to help. Our trip was fantastic. We anchored deep in the creek and utilize a stern anchor, as those there prior to our arrival had established stern anchors as well. There were others that came after us that chose to swing free a midst the stationary boats, but all worked out well.

More importantly though....thank you for your service to our country Captain!!!

Have a wonderful summer!

Glad the links helped. Wish I could have given you more info as we had planned to go up there stay but the boat has been in the boat hospital since the end of June.
i see you are at Fairelee Creek. Are you at the marina over there? I am across and up the bay a little from FC on the Bush River. Haven't been to FC this year either. Come to think of it I haven't been anywhere.

Yes we are at Great Oak. We have been there on B dock for about 6 years now. Once your boat is out of the infirmary, give us a shout if you head over our way. There's always a cold frosty beverage available. Don't look for the 330 Sundancer though. I have to admit we shifted gears and picked up a 406 Carver ACMY about 2 years ago. We don't spend too much time over on the Bush River, but spend many days and nights at Still Pond, Worton Creek and other eastern shore haunts. If you ever see "Ma-Ke-Jo" on the water, don't hesitate to raft on up.
