We spent the night on the hook last night. Set the anchor about one minute prior to a strong cold front moving through our area that generated sustained winds of 20-30 MPH winds out of the north. We were in a bayou of Spring Lake with our nose facing north, fortunately far enough into the shore that we had some protection from the wind. We spent the first hour and a half under the hardtop watching it pour down rain while enjoying drinks. The wind then shifted to the NE and we were totally protected. We watched movie and the news. The next morning the sun was out, the winds down to about 10 MPH and a beautiful day unfolded. Great time of the year to boat.

Sounds like you were snug as a bug in a rug. We love boating in the fall and into winter. Not as many boats out, the weather is spectacular, and it's just a nice quiet time to be on the water.

Wish i could get the wifey to go on the boat after labor day!!!! It's still in the high 70's here !!!!! :smt013 Sounds nice enjoy it'

We call it "Movie night in the bayou." It's about 5 minutes from our house in a great protected spot. We are always the only boat in there and it feels like we are in the middle of nowhere. We do it every Friday until the boat is pulled. We read, have a drink until dark, watch a movie and the news. I usually go back to the helm to enjoy the solitude. Heavy fog in the morning is common. Coffee and breakfast under the hardtop and a little cruise in the AM completes the event. Back to the dock for Big !0 football on Saturday. Love doing this.
