We have a Danforth style anchor and we are considering a Delta plow anchor. I am wondering what kind of anchor is best in this situation. The one we have on there now doesn't seem to work so well. Don't get me wrong the anchor holds but bringing it in can be a problem and it seems that the rope chafes on the pulpit, in fact it has chipped some of the fiberglass on the pulpit. We are not clear on how to fasten the anchor chain to the bow klete when the anchor is up.

Please post information about your boat so that someone with a similiar boat can answer you. One of the issues as to type of anchor will be the type of bottom that you anchor in. Are you sure you are pulling it up correctly?

We have a 1997 270 DA.
I guess what we would like to know is which anchor would fit best in our pulpit the plow style anchor or the Danworth.

Here's mine.

You can add an anchor stopper for holding the chain snug. I currently have a stainless steel padlock holding mine in place, along with the cable tether.

Here's another means to the same end to hold the anchor tight:

Currently, I'm actually just using a piece a rope, tied to the cleat (in addition to the safety cable). I'll be adding a windlass and wanted to wait until then to add anything else.

I have a plow anchor - Delta Fastset. It's not as pretty as Nehalennia's, though!
