i have read several older threads concerning problems when adding an anchor roller to small - mid sized boats that have a single bow navigation light that is located in the center of the bow...i thought i would share how i addressed this on my 215EC recently...i installed a deck cleat and two skene chocks along with a small anchor roller...this arrangement allows me to launch and retrieve the anchor without having the anchor or chain rub against the boat hull and/or the rub rail....once the anchor is dropped and set i use the skene chocks to route the rode away from the navigation light and roller to keep from possibly damaging them from the rocking of the boat while on the hook....all of the new harware is stainless steel and through bolted with steel backing plates...this set up works quite well for my relatively small boat and does not interfere with the nav light...the new hardware does not show up in my sig picture yet...need to get a new sig pic uploaded....

Looks like a great solution. Do you have a pic with the anchor in place so we can better understand?

the anchor does not stay in the roller all the time...it stays in the anchor locker when not in use...when it is needed i simply swing open the locker door and manually place the anchor stem on the roller and lower the anchor down into the water by the chain/rode....once the anchor is on the bottom and i have let out enough rode i tie the rode off to the deck cleat...then i remove the rode from the roller and route it through one of the chocks...then i set the anchor by slowly (very slowly) reversing the boat until the anchor grabs the bottom...when i retrieve the anchor i untie the rode from the cleat and manually pull the rode in and dump it into the open locker....this moves the boat forward and when the boat is positioned directly over the anchor i remove the rode from the chock and place the rode in the roller...then i raise the anchor and chain out of the water by continuing pulling on the the rode...the chain and the stem of the anchor will ride over top of the roller and onto the bow...once the anchor is on the bow i can easily handle it (8 lbs) and stow it into the anchor locker...i'll try to take some pics with the anchor in place this evening and post them tomorrow...

surfinjoe, if you will send me an e-mail address i will send a PM with pics of anchor roller in action....
