We just got this boat from a relative, and the anchor locker was full of... well... stuff. I emptied it out and the bottom was wet, the carpet soaked, etc. Even after having it empty for three days, it is still wet. When I look inside it appears there is a weep hole at the bottom, and I wonder if water is coming in as well as out and is this normal? I may be normal, it is not filling up, just wet. My only concern is getting the carpet to mildew, and possibly rottingf any wood that is under that carpet.

Any suggestions? I do not see any easy way to remove that carpet wall between the anchor locker and seats.... there seems to be a space in there I cannot get to, hoping it is not also full of water!

In my opinion you are putting a wet anchor line in there, plus it will get water in there when it rains as the front canvas doesn't cover the anchor locker door. Either way its fine.

Thanks for the "its fine" - that is what I was most concerned about. The locker is empty now, I have not put anything in, no rain since I cleaned it out... I suspect that the drain hole in the bottom takes some inflow of water in certain conditions and is probably why it is wet still. In any event, I take your points that rain will always get in there anyhow, so it must be designed to have water inside...

Thanks,
Scott

The locker should have a drain to the bilge area. If it's on the trailer take the plug out and crank the jack so the bow is high and let it drain. Try some compressed air to be sure it's not clogged.
