I have the forward hatch off the 260DA. Its the plywood version with teak trim around the edges (1982).

I've removed the teak (half off anyway) and painted the board. The teak was held on with somesmall staples and maybe some glue. What do you all recommend reattaching with? can I just reglue and leave the staples out?

Thanks,

The teak trim on my anchor hatch is screwed on with lag screws that are recessed so they are flush to the surface.

I made this one for my '81 260 out of starboard and teak trim from West Marine. Loved the way it turned out and fit the appearance for the period. Cost $40 in materials and about an hour to make. I used the factory piano hinge and hatch seal self-adhesive foam on bottom edges.

Thats a nice one and the handle is functional. Did you glue or screw?

The teak trim was glued. Handle was screwed. Really easy project and worked really well. Only thing you could do different is a recessed latch to lock it shut. However, mine never swung open underway.

OK thanks. I guessed that the staples were just there to hold it until the glue dried since the manufactoring process didn't allow clamp time.
