I have tried searching the forum and through google looking for a particular anchor chock or cleat. I remember seeing a member here that had one installed. It's chrome and looks like a T. Can anyone help?

Yes, that is what I was looking for. I see that Islandhopper has it. Could secure the chain rode to that?

I guess you could but it would be an ugly mess of chain wrapped around it. Why not install a chain stopper?

That is a nice looking chain stopper.

A better option is a snubber line, w/ a properly-sized hook and a single loop end or V double loop end to run around the bow cleat(s).

The chain w/o the snubber will transfer all the surge shock to both the boat and the anchor. The snubber absorbs that shock.

It is easy to make.

Papogator, I installed the "bollard" on my boat for two reasons.
1) It provides a straight pull for the anchor line, instead of having to use a bridle.

2) It provides clearance for the anchor rode to clear the nav light on the bow.

I bought it from west marine, and it works great. A snubber for the anchor could be used if you have an all chain rode. I don't. I like the idea of all chain but without a windlass, hand over hand with chain isn't my idea of fun. I'm not knocking it. But am afraid of where to pile the chain as I pull the anchor, or when trying to Bahama anchor by myself.

here is a link of what the set up looks like...

As stated above...An anchor snubber is a bridle used to take the strain of the chain rode. This reduces wear on your boat from the chain and also acts as a shock absorber and silences the chain. Using 3-strand nylon line (drop a note or call us for prices), splice 2 eye loops to go around your port and starboard bow cleats. Splice these two lines together a distance about equal to the height of the bow above the water.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. Our 240 anchor locker doesn't have a whole lot of room. I am thinking of having 10-20' of chain.

Hi Popogator. refer to your anchor mfg. for chain size and length. They have made their determinations under real world teasting to determin the correct size, weight and length for chain to anchor size. Go with their recommendations for your size boat.

Remember you need the whole rode plus chain to be long enough to give you a 7 X (Depth+Height of deck off the water) scope for the depth of water you will be typically anchoring. Yes, 3X can work for a quick stop, 5X in calm conditions over night but 7X is storm anchor scope, or required for poor holding conditions.

Prepare for the worst and bad things rarely happen.
