Great! I get a call that an old Grand Banks has sunk across the marina from my boat AGAIN. Since December of 2017 this boat has sunk twice and another similar boat sank within a week of the first sinking. All three times these boats have sunk they covered the marina in diesel. Our marina is managed by lovely municipal workers whose hands are tied by a city manager that won’t enforce eviction action so these old boats sit uninsured and un-maintained.
I’ve not seen any long lasting negative affects to my boat which has a modified epoxy anti fouling bottom paint but I can’t imagine it’s good for it.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
It’s funny that I’m always careful while fueling my boat to make sure I don’t spill any fuel and face a $10,000 fine for creating a ‘sheen’. These clowns have not been fined a red cent for covering an entire marina three times.
In the same time frame three other gassers have gone down due to poor condition.
I’m seriously considering moving the boat 20 miles further from home to get to a better managed marina.
    Just Venting

The San Fran enviro's allow this? But do not possess a plastic straw.

I'm having a hard time believing that the right people haven't been made aware of this.

Coasties were out, took a report supposedly.
Yeah, gotta ask for a straw for your drink, pay 10 cents for a sturdier bag that will still end up in a land fill or do a better job of strangling a bird. Idiot school administrators closed schools because of some smoke in the air due to the fire 60 miles away like the air in the homes is safer to breath than that in modern school rooms.
It truly is becoming more and more difficult to enjoy calling Cali home. We do have year round boating though and more often than not we can find like minded folks to enjoy on the water while we escape the craziness!

So, you have to find a friend, a like minded one and leave land to enjoy California.... This doesn't sound good.

Sounds like a call to a local news station would be in order. They're always looking for ways to embarrass 'rich folks' or government workers.

I would hope marinas ask owners for their proof of insurance every year.

There's too much at stake having uninsured boats hanging out.

Here near Nashville this morning 3 boats went up in flames...... the one that started it was occupied ...... the cause has not been reported.

California, the cratering society. Made up of the most billionaires in the country and the largest population of poor as well. They vote in socialist policies because the rich feel guilty about the poor and offer the poor free stuff.

The state has one rule government, now with a veto proof super majority in the legislature. And the middle class??? They are leaving fast, Cali has the largest outbound migration of any state and it is mostly middle class.

The worst part to me is the middle class that is leaving did not learn anything and now are infiltrating Colorado, Texas, and other states. Saw a diesel truck fron Texas, back window read: Don't California my Texas.

YES!!! please don't, we like it here . God bless Texas! Every marina Iv'e stayed has had more than a few vessels that are permanently placed in what I call boat purgatory .It seems there is nothing anyone can do to remove the hazard that they represent ! It's like trying to evict a bad tenant from an apartment . They don't maintain, tag, insure or even care that the lines are made fast ! hell ,it's not even their problem when they sink! Mean while,we are jumping through hoops staying compliant in all respects ; insurance , exorbitant rents for our little piece or water ,tags, documentation, laborious maintenance ,I promise not to crap in the water stickers , rules saying ,"Don't do this, don't do that, violate under pain of death", you name it .I don't mind these conditions when I factor in the bliss afforded me when I step on my vessel and depart .It's part of ownership which we accept in return for our lifestyle .What pisses me off is spending 4 or five hours detailing my beautiful girl and then looking over at one of the a fore mentioned pieces of neglected crap and cringing at its condition .It's there among us ,filthy with green streaks down her sides ,tied up with kite string , with no chance of being moved willingly, maybe breaking free and drifting into my girl tonight .Hell I saw one with weeds growing from the outdrives! Oh for a marina without such crap , is it too much to ask in Life ?

Beto came way too close for comfort. You guys better build a wall along your western border before it’s too late to keep the Californians out.
Florida is already in the shitter because of all the transplanted New Yorkers.
Amazes me that people escape places like NY and California because of high taxes and when they get to other states like Texas and Florida they elect the same kind of people that ruined the places they came from.

It’s much the same here. You have to look both ways to make sure nobody is in earshot before expressing a political view or expressing displeasure at paying the freight for the free stuff the politicians want to give away at our expense.
Soon we’ll have to develop secret networks and handshakes to avoid being attacked by the liberals as they try to take away even more of what we have earned or accumulated over a lifetime.
Hmmmm...........now what 20th century group are they starting to remind me of.............

Happens in every marina I've been in from one coast to the other. I never figured out why someone would keep paying the dues on a boat they never use and never intend to use.

There's an old Fairliner in my marina that hasn't been moved in at least 3 years. It's one short step away from being a derelict. They come down about once a summer, get drunk, walk the docks telling everyone what great boaters they are, then vanish for another year.

One large yacht club we have reciprocal with had a problem with non use, non working boats. Their solution was to change the rules on moorage. All boats must leave the marina twice a year for a minimum of 48 hours under their own power. It resulted in some new spots opening up.

That will help. A problem for GFC's area is year round boating we do not have.
