So with the last year being a whirlwind, my wife(Mighty Mo) and I finally will get a few days away on the boat ....no kids and a forecast of decent weather.
Our 10 Year anniversary was on Friday and we're taking off on the boat in the AM to the Candian Gulf islands.
This will be nice trip away and I'm looking forward to doing nothing.

I'll catch up next week.

Sounds like a recipe for fun...enjoy it Todd.

Can't wait to see the pictures, have fun.

Have a special time. My wife and I did this over the winter and cruised to Naples FL. Wonderful to get away from the kids for bit. But then again, we missed them immensely. Bitter sweet.

Actually sounds like the recipe for another kid  just kidding, had to say it.....

Enjoy, those are good times to be had when it's just the two of you relaxing. But like Chuck mentioned, bitter sweet without the kids.

That's funny. I have 4 kids already. I have a 18 year old, 16 year(both from a previous marraige) and 7 year old twins with Mo. I'm fixed too, just in case she gets any crazy ideas.

I've had sex 3 times in my life and I have 4 kids.....how cool is that?

Anyway, I thought I'd share some photos.
Monday's getaway around the North end of Orcas. Just plain perfect.

Cleared customs at Bedwell Harbour(aka Poet's Cove)

went through the cut between North Pender island and South pender Island and then on to Montague Harbour.

We quickly tied up there and caught the Fun Bus to the Hummingbird Pun

The next AM we headed over to Sturdies bay to check out the "Galiano Inn" where they have a spa. Mo wanted us to get a couple's massage. We tied to the public pier there right next to the Sturdies bay ferry terminal. The walk to the Inn from the dock is a quick one, but be careful. Mo and I had to jump for our lives, seriously, because and oncoming driver wasn't paying attention began to run off the road and I had to jump towards Mo on my left and push her to further over to avoid getting run over. Crazy.

Anyway, they didn't have an opening until later that day so we decided to head over to Ganges.

Had a little wind and overcast skies come in but it was still nice.
we walked up to the Fish markey and bought a nice piece of Coho salmon. $10.99/lb wasn't too bad, but after we went to Thrifty food markey shortly after that saw their fish ...same stuff......$2.99/lb. ARRRGGHH!!
Anyway I'm sure this tasted better.

It was pretty relaxing there but it was constant seaplanes
10thAnnvTriptoCanada6-16-099.jpg

and this guy pulled in right behind us in the afternoon left his generator running until 6 or 7 PM to keep his freezer working while selling shrimp.

We hung out at the Treehouse cafe outside for live music that night.

We left Ganges around 8:30AM and had really nice water again.
This guy was making a landing as we left.

We made a Spa appointment at the Brentwood bay resort while in Ganges for 11AM Wed. That is a very nice place.

We basically had the pool to ourselves. The only other people that used it were in it while we were getting our Chi aligned......

I really liked that place. Moorage was more expensive than most other places(1.65/ft + $5 power), but they had free showers, garbage, pool, DVD rental.
A great Adult place. We didn't eat there because we walked down the street to the "Blue's Bayou" where we had some great Jambalya and Gumbo. We went there 9 years ago on our 1st Anniversary.

Yesterday we headed over to Bedwell Harbour(Poet's cove) and hung out at the pool again for awhile. I left after about and hour and Mo stayed at the pool and read while I went back to the boat and hand polished a couple sections of the boat.
With a couple beers and some good Kenny Chesney "boats" song playing I find this relaxing.

The is the marker entering Bedwell Harbour(in Canada) with the Lighthouse on Stuart Island (US) in the background.

We met some new Canadian people that just bought a Searay 270AJ. That's a very nice boat. We got along slendidly.

got up early this morning, ran back to Friday harbor, cleared customs and again was met with great water. I've never seen Rosario Strait so calm.

Arrived back to the launch at Swinomish channel where I was the only vehicle in the parking lot. Here's what I found

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great trip. Sorry to see that last picture? How old are the tires?

Thanks for the pics Todd. Sounds like a great time! I wish we could do that kind of boating around here.

I've never seen that before on a tire...scary.

Yeah the tire we had replaced 15 minutes from the launch. It was very weird. The trailer is only a 1 1/2 old. It's the second tire I've had to replace. First one was a huge screw that wasn't repairable.

Anyway, thanks, it was a great trip. There are way too many places to visit up here.

Awesome pics Todd....Sounds and looks like you had a great time...Admiral and I are celebrating 6 years on Sunday as well as my first Father's day. Wish we could get out but rain has been prevailing forecast here as of late.
Always love the pics! Congrats on the anniversary

Hey Todd,

Thank you for sharing your adventure. The photos are awesome.

My favorite photo is the one where you are about to go under a railroad bridge with no houses in sight.

We have some areas similar to that along the upper Wolf River and it mentally takes me back in time. I find it very relaxing.

Glad it was a great trip.

Thank you and Happy Father's Day.
We're going to have rain here too.

Doug,
That bridge is actually a very narrow car bridge that connects North Pender Is and South Pender Is in British Columbia.

It's only 20' deep at high tide but caution is needed when at low tide it's only 5-6'.

Great photos! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.

Most of that area is spotty for population. It's part of the reason we love it, it's away from the busy mainland. All of the island people, especially in B.C., are very laid back and friendly.

Great post Todd! We are heading to Lopez on 7/3 and into the gulf Islands on the 5th. Not sure how far we'll get.

Brentwood Bay looks like a worthy stop. A night on a buoy behind Beachart Gardens then a night at Brentwood Bay looks very appealing.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Scott
We'll be at Friday Harbor on the 4th.
You'll like Brentwood. If you haven't anchored at Buchart Gardens before, watch you location. Tod Inlet around the corner is very popular too.

Here's a video of some smooth sailing I just posted
