The rear 4 speaker amp is blown on the premium sound system. I picked up a new one but I'm two hours away. I'll take a bunch of tools with me on saturday, but if there is anything special I need to take please speak up. I"m assuming the amp is behind the panel where the stereo is inside the starboard helm cubby. What I don't know is if I get at it from inside the cubby or by opening the seat in front of it somehow. I know that seat doesn't flip up easily. I'm sure I'll figure it out but I fear getting there and not having the tool I need :). I've only had the boat for a few weeks. Any tips on how to get at the amp?

Also how can I find the correct fuse near the batteries? My replacement amp has the same power specs but the battery side fuse it calls for is a little higher I think. I need to check what is there.

thanks for any tips

Yes, I understand. I can find the cable gauge at the amp so I didn't ask about that :). It's finding the cable with the right fuse at the battery end I'm not sure how to locate. I guess I could power the line and then pull fuses I find near the battery until the line is broken. I'm an EE and have a good meter. I guess that's the way to go.

I can't find the full spec on the old amp anywhere so I won't know till I get to the boat if I need a fuse and/or wire. Actually I'm not 100% sure what model the amp is. I think it's a panasonic EAA046B based on what I'm reading about other boats. This is 4x50 rms I believe but I can't find a spec for the safety fuse. It's probably 40 to 60 amp on either 8 or 6 gauge wire. I'm not taking a new fuse with me anyhow since I don't know what type of holder is on there so I'll have to test the setup at low volume and then pick up what I need next trip.

Have you considered the "sure thing" approach of installing new wire and a new fuse w/holder with the new amp? Depending on where you locate the amp this may not add significantly to the project.

Did you find the amp yet? I have a similar problem and would think it is behind the radio, but would like to hear what you found.

Did you ever locate the amp? Need to replace mine as well...I know this thread is old but there's literally nothing about this anywhere I can find.
