Any San Francisco members watching the racing...?

Looks as though they are quite close to shore, should be a spectacular sight.

Kiwis can fly.....!!!

I have been out to see them 3 times now, planning on watching again next weekend. Yes, they do fly, 43 knots +/-, it's amazing to see. I posted a few pics last week, of course the east coast guy(s) were negative, and don't like the multi hulls. I don't really care, if they can go faster than most on the water, I am impressed. Also, SF bay is a beast most days of the year. That is something that should not be taken lightly. Should be fun as the racing advances.

FUGUM. Too often people are stuck in the "that's the way we used to do it and I don't see a reason to change" mentality. I think that stinks. If we were still in that mentality I'd be chipping this message on a stone tablet, we wouldn't have cell phones, laptops, microwaves, etc. FUGUM.

I agree, I was within 200 feet of a 72' wind powered boat going 42 knots with chase boats trying to keep up. I thought it was great. I can't wait to see more in the coming weeks. The race course is only 4 miles from my slip. I found that if you duck behind the east side if Alcatraz, you can get up close and personal with the AC72's

I will be watching some of the races from land but most likely not by water. There are many great locations to watch from shore it's not worth the fuel for me to run 150 miles round trip to get smacked into by some moron not paying attention to what he is doing. I imagine when the real races start it will be mayhem on the water with boats trying to get the best view.

I watched the ACWS on youtube. That was some exciting racing. This is the future of sailboat racing. This America's Cup is likely to be the most exciting ever!

The fact that the crew had Australians in it.........the Australian media took it as an Aussie Win......LOL

I think the crew only had one American in it. The ESPN sports talking head team of Mike and Mike did a program on it.
Is it an American win if there was only one American on the team?

No mater the crew did an incredible job of overcoming the cheating/rule streatching and the early losses.

i really miss seeing the single hulls in deep water. i love the foils and multi hulls but there was something elegant and (I know) traditional that i really liked about watching the hulls cut through rather than skip across the water. I almost wish they made a different racing series for the older styles.

Separate versions of the race would be a cool idea but watching these beasts fly through the water (air) at 50 MPH was amazing!

I thought that the AC72's were the most amazing sailboat races ever and that San Francisco was the best AC venue ever but I never felt a sense of nationalistic pride over the win. The AC is all about really wealthy people with outsized egos and this time the owners happened to be from the US and NZ.

Here is an excellent highlights video of the Louis Vitton Cup and the America's Cup. It is only three minutes long or so.
