I think there should be a knob or 2 to stop it from sliding. The holes on either side of the latch that converts it from a back-to-back seat to a lay down lounger don't have threads. What am I missing?

This pic shows the latch and one of the holes to the left of it

Yup. Originally there would have been knobs supplied. Maybe they're still in the boat somewhere?

If memory serves, the threads are 5/16"-18. You can buy new knobs from a SR dealer, make your own with a knob from a hardware store or just use a SS bolt.

Thank you! The knobs are missing but the holes on the outboard side are threaded. I bought some 5/16"-18 threaded knobs from Grainger.com and they work perfectly.

Never would have thought to look on the outboard side, thank you!

Apologies in advance for highjacking the thread, but I have a somewhat related question:

In contract on a 2005 AJ 290 on which the lounger does not fully extend. The front section seems to bind up. Any suggestions/guidance/thoughts appreciated.

The track is either corroded or bent.

However the front section doesn't move - it's stationary. If you're instead referring to the second section, that's not on a track - just a hinge with the 3rd section. Unless that hinge is mangled (should be easy enough to see that) I can't imagine that being the problem.

I disagree, the whole assembly slides when the knobs are released. My guess is the track needs to be lubricated or maybe it's rusted or bent. Look under the seat if you can and check out the tracks.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly from mine... I thought just the rear (4th) section slides on a track. Or maybe it was just that I never found a need to slide the front section and just left that knob tightened all the time?

But, either way, the answer is still the same - corroded or mangled. Only way to know what's actually going on is to look.

Disregard what I said above about the tracking and the slight misdirect. For some reason I thought your boat had the same double wide slide-out lounger. But your boat has the "back to back" seat, right? Yes, as Rawbar pointed out, both the first section and the last section (seat bottoms) are on tracks.

Open the seat part way and peer in and/or look from underneath. They're not too hard to completely remove, either.

If nothing is obviously wrong, you might get lucky with some silicone spray.
