The weather has been an absolute bag of **** here for the last 2 months.. and it's been that long since I've checked on my boat. I left here secured nicely with heaters in place etc, fuel treated - all good. Every day I tell myself I should go down to the docks to see her but it's raining so God damn hard every day I can't bring myself to do it.

To make matters worse I've started a love affair with the Mercedes S63 and I have an offer on the table to buy one. I really feel like I'm cheating on my boat.

My poor motor home feels even less loved!!! And don't even ask my folorned motorcycles.

First world problems, right?

Seem to me all these thing you mentioned are supposes to give you joy not a guilty feeling.Don't miss my Motor home and camp grounds one bit I would rather go camping on the boat then a motor home any day of the week.Bottom line do what makes you happy and the ones that make you fell guilty get rid of them. S63 looks sweet and I bet they are a blast to drive.

This is a joke, right?

Not at all - why? What's the joke part. It's been biblical rain for 2 months here.

I would drive the S63 to the boat soon to be sure all is well. That way you can enjoy both at the same time and head off any trouble that may be brewing if a heater were to fail or a leak to develop. Plus it gives you and excuse to spend some wheel time with the new Benz.

When I want to escape the weather I hop in my private plane and fly to our vacation home at Deep Water Bay. In fact my wife Eunice and I just got back. The weathers perfect this time of year. Highly recommend going. Take care, Thurston.

I think he was referring to your comment about Canada being a first world country.

I think he's referring to the fact that the boat hasn't been checked in two months. That in itself is scary and the biblical rain on top of that? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Ok, that's pretty funny right there.

Cmon no way you'd be found on a Bayliner forum. You're not fooling anyone.

If he is in British Columbia he is absolutely right about the rain. My boat was put in storage in October because of the rain, and it is still raining, and that might turn to snow tonight. I am only a few hundred miles south of the border and our weather patterns are pretty much the same as in BC. No I don't think he's a bad owner. Just discouraged.
Frankly if the weather were following it's normal pattern, I'd still be out on the lake fishing.

To answer the OP's question...IMHO, Yes you are a bad boat owner, Sea Ray or not.

There is no way in hell I'd let ANY boat go unchecked for 2 months especially if it's been raining the whole time. There are some leaks around window hatches and port lights that are only noticed after a few days of steady rain. Waiting two months to see if any leaks are present just ensures there will be much to repair.

There's just no excuse for that type of neglect.

Hold on here. You are making some basic assumptions that may not be true. You are assuming his boat is still in the water, not covered, and that no one is checking on it. None of which may be true. For instance my boat is out of the water, covered, on a trailer and the drain plug out so any water would just drain out the hole in the transom. His may be in a marina where they actually check on boats (lol). It may be heated, have a decent cover and a working bilge pump. Sure he should be checking on it, but he may be relying on someone else to do that. So lets not jump to conclusions without all the evidence.

If the OP had someone checking on it for him why would he be asking if he was a bad boater for not checking on it? Having a heater in the bilge is a good thing but it isn't going to stop a water leak or dry out the cabin.

Seriously...he goes on to say that all of his toys have been neglected and that his mind is on a buying a Benz.

Question asked and answered.

just my opinion but if I had more 'toys' than I could take proper care of I would either hire someone to help take care of them or sell them to someone that could show them the amount of attention they need......

it appears you are fortunate enough to be able to financially afford these multiple toys and to that i say good for you.....

but it breaks my heart when I see or hear about such nice mechanical things being neglected and not being used......such a waste...

not sure about the real reason for your post....was it to brag about all your toys and how you have so many you can't maintain them or is it just a slow day and you needed some contact with the outside world?......

sorry if my remarks seem a little harsh but I just don't understand why you felt the need to bring to our attention the fact you are not properly maintaining your 'stuff'...

+1

I agree.

Bad. Very very bad. You should be scolded. And all your toys taken away. The Benz sounds interesting - I'll volunteer for that one. And could you elaborate on the motorcycles you bad bad person.
