Alternaterr replacement

My alternater died this weekend, search the web found this one on eBay for a third of the price. Has anybody used this guy
or should I spend the extra 200.00 and get one from merc?

I was looking at that same alternator last week on eBay and decided to take mine into a local alternator shop instead. It was rebuilt for $150. I dropped it off at 8 on Friday and picked it up 4 hrs later.

That looks EXACTLY like the one I just replaced two weeks ago on my port engine, for $165.00 bucks:smt013.

The only downside to the E bay unit is that IF you have a problem with it, IF they do in fact warranty it, you're still gonna have to pay shipping charges.

I say stay local if you can.

Just take it to a local alternator shop. No reason to purchase another one...
