We have a Signature 310 with a 5.0 Mercruiser. When I put the shifter in neutral the lower unit stay in gear, I either need to hit the throttle button on slam in in reverse to get it back to Neutral. Last year I had the bellows changed and a new shift cable put in. Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks! Brad Pierce, Dallas, Texas

There's a brass, barrel-shaped adjusting nut on the cable - look at where the shifting cables move... inboard of the stbd manifold. The barrel nut can be moved one way or the other to find a "true" neutral. I explained this to someone else (with more detail) recently so you might be able to find that thread by using my name as a qualifier. Cables sometimes stretch a bit.

Thank you! That makes sense, I will give it a try, sound like I will just have to experiment a bit to get it correct. Kind Regards, Brad Pierce
