Alpha One Gen 2 water pump housing alignment pins

I checked. I have the single gasket I used from the kit and I also have the 3 separate pieces. Metal plate, black gasket and one with bead of dealer on it. I also have the yellow plastic seal thing that I didn't use but maybe next change I will. Is it easy to remove? My kit was like the one you posted with the single piece option in the lower rt. See tho, it has both options.

The yellow plastic carrier seal that seals the driveshaft can be difficult to remove. The original is black and the replacement is yellow in color. There are two bores that you can use a screwdriver to pry it up. I discovered a trick to remove the carrier seal while pressure testing my drive before installing the waterpump impeller and housing. If you pressurize the drive theough the oil fill port to 10 psi while holding your thumb over the gear oil port, the carrier seal will pop out. If yours is stuck in place with minerals, a helper can use two phillips screwdrivers to pry up on the seal while you're pressurizing the drive and the seal should come right out.

The original carrier seal in my drive was fine but since there was a new one in the kit and my boat is a 1997, I figured I should replace the seal. Since I replaced the seal, I wanted to pressure test it and spray the area with soapy water to make sure it didn't leak. I did manage to accidentally re-use the original key for the waterpump impeller. I didn't realize that until I had everything together...LOL. I don't know why they include a new key in the kit but not a gasket for the vent plug but I already had the deflector seal installed on the driveshaft atop the waterpump housing and I figured I'd ruin the seal attempting to remove it so I just left the original key in place.

The next time you change your water pump impeller, you can use the three piece assembly provided you have a cavitation plate that does not have any gaskets molded to it. The steel gasket is installed first, then the cavitation plate, them the paper gasket with the silicone bead facing up, then the pump housing. The first two bolts to be installed are in the smallest hole and the slot in the housing. The cavitation plate should have the same small clearance hole and slot.
