alpha one gen 2 install problems

Hello everyone, I'm working on my boat is a 2005 sea ray Sundance with 2 4.3 merc. and alpha one gen 2 outdrives, I've just change the bellows and bearings and I'm trying to put back but it won't go back in, I put very little grease and make sure is in gear and everything lines up but it goes in and about 1 inch doesn't go any further, a friend of mine thinking it could be the wrong bellows or bellow ring but I bought from an authorized merc dealer I'm just frustrated at this point and I'm hoping someone here can help me.

First step is to check engine alignment with the correct tool.

Exactly what Mitch said use the right alignment tool the very first time and don't beat on it don't do anything just get the tool so you can pull it out or push it in and pull it out with two fingers just like butter then you're 100% lined up if you have to tap it shove it hit it it's not straight I learned that lesson before it cost me a lot of money

I did check the alignment when I install the bearing and it is perfect, I just don't understand what can be wrong

Just reread the OP. He did say only 1" so maybe it's the O-ring. Not crazy about the "Mercruiser kick" but that may just do it.

@andre de oliveira I know you said you got your part's from an auth. dealer but were they O.E. Mercruiser or Quicksilver parts?
