Going to replace my bellows and boot on my Alpha drives. The current product is GLM and it has been on 6 seasons and it is showing some wear. (dock in brackish, boat in salt) Has anyone noticed a big difference between OEM and GLM products in this application. Also going to replace shift cables, same question.
The price difference is more than double for merc products vs GLM. I replace cables about every 3 years.
Someone at my club thought the Merc was a easier to install. Any thoughts?
Thanks Rob

Never used anything from GLM so I can't give any opinion on them specifically. I used to rely heavily on aftermarket parts while in the car repair business. I no longer do it for a living but, when I service stuff these days I tend to be picky about what parts I use. Quality has really gone down on aftermarket so, I usually go with OEM if I want it to last or just fit right for that matter. It's a fair amount of work - as you know - to do this job. I'd be upset if it went south due to poor quality parts.:smt021 I always look at it and ask, is it worth doing twice to save whatever I think I'm going to save.

Good point. I found some Sierra parts this weekend and I am waiting for them to get here. My mechanic didn't want to deal with GLM. He said too much effort to put them in but Sierra should be fine. thanks
Just about finished waxing. this is the last step. Hopefully splashing in a week or so!
