My drives are / were Alpha 1 gen 1 at 1.50:1 ratio.

A replacement drive is 1.47:1

Is it bad mojo to have one drive new at 1.47 and one old at 1.50 ?
Is the 0.03 difference really an issue or is the issue more of mixing an old and new drive?

thanks,

Mercruiser altered the ratio from 1.5 down to 1.47 in order to help prevent gear wear in the unit. In a nutshell, the older 1.5 ratio allowed the same teeth within the drive unit to mesh in a repeating pattern, possibly resulting in uneven wear and a shorter life. Mixing the two ratios is not a problem - you'll never notice it.
