Hi all,
I have a 2005 180 Sport with an Alpha 1 Gen II. What regular maintenance do I need to tend to on this outdrive. I boat in fresh water and the boat is stored in my garage. Corrosion is not an issue. Are there lube points I need to lube, if so where are they located. Thanks.

Well. . .I think once a year you turn the boat over to a mechanic and give him your 401K account numbers

(you need the account numbers, because the bill will be larger than your credit limit)

In my parts. . the drives get pulled annually and "pressure tested" to ensure all the seals are intact. (say. . 50 hours)

Every other year, the pump impellers are replaced (say. . 100 hours)

I am sure there are a few other things.

Yearly replace the lower unit fluid with Merc high performance lub, remove the lower unit and grease the input shaft, check the u joints for wear, replace the O rings and gasket (comes as a complete kit), check alignment of engine to input shaft, check the coupler for any sign of wear (the lands and grooves should be nice and square, check gimble bearing, grease gimble, remove prop and grease output shaft, touch up any paint chips and replace.
