Alpha gen 1 upper steering pin removal

Good day everyone,

I'm removing the steering pin from my late model gen 1. I've got the nut at the top of the pin off, loosened the steering arm and pulled the two bolts that pinch the bottom. I can't get the pin to lower out. Can I put a bolt in the threaded hole at the bottom of the pin and use that to pull it out?
