24' Sundancer, gifted to me form my uncle. Rebuild transom, stringers, drive , engine.
Engines
Merc 260, GM performance intake manifold, 2.02 double hump heads, Reed cam.
I am rebuilding my '76 sundancer. I t needed a new drive and gimbal housing. When I took it apart it was very clear where the trim lines went due to diffrent fitting sizes. The new drive has the same size fittings and they are larger that the old ones. Can I just adapt the fittings on the pump? Or d I need a new pump? Also can some one tell me where they hook into the pump.None of my pictures show this very well.

Shouldn't be a problem to just adapt to the correct size assuming you can find the right fittings. The trim pump is only concerned with holding pressure, not moving a large volume of fluid in a short period of time.

Just went through this with my 270 Sundancer. In my previous 84 Cuddy Fisherman I had an Alpha and it was much more akin to Frankenstein than a Mercrusier after having that thing for over ten years.... I had a new pump and old rams then an old pump with new rams.... It was a mess but it still seemed to work fine. It is essentially a couple of hydraulic floor jacks moving your drive up and down. Anyhow I degress... The pump has adapters that change its lines in the pump housing to a 1/4 inverted flair fitting for your trim hoses. That goes under your engine and penetrates the transom and connects to the manifold which is also a 1/4 inverted flair. The in and out or down and up (braided s/s) as they are called running to your rams are 5/16 inverted flair. The best way to verify all this is to go to Autozone and by some brake line fittings (universal) a couple of 1/4s and a couple of 5/16s. from there you can cut and crimp them as required to make plugs because you'll need that later when you start bleeding the system. The brake lines are just a quick and easy (and cheap) way to work with all the hydraulics. I just lost the manifold that fits under the gimbal housing on the outside of the boat. Make sure to put all your runners (fish tape or string) in ahead of engine replacement as space is very very limited.
