I noticed a small water leak from the port side drive toward the end of year so I decided to have the bellows and gimbal bearings replaced in both drives before spring arrives. I have a Mercruiser mechanic friend who will be doing this for me. Aside from these items, is there anything else I should be looking to replace at the same time? Will also be replacing the impellers also. Thanks.

Change the drive fluid, zincs (if necessary) and consider changing the tilt sender & limit switches if it hasnt been done before.

Where is the leak coming from on the drive? Leaks around the transom assembly or steering pin can be very "problematic".

The leak appears to be coming from the bellows. Not much but enough to be noticed and addressed. I was planning on the zincs and fluid but did not think of the tilt sender/limit switches. I will get those ordered and replace while he is in there. Thanks for the heads up. I just don't want to have to go back and replace something else afterwards.

You also should change the water intake hose and possibly the lower shift cable while your at it.

Got the Quicksilver Kit 30-803099T1. It includes the hose and I did order the cables just in case. So far I guess the only items I missed were the trim switches. Thanks for the heads up.

Ewiese, did you say you seen a leak? Where did you see it? In the bilge ? Most of the time when you see a leak in the bilge from the transom assembly area, it is coming from the shift cable bellows or a transom assy where it sits against the hull is corroded. When I usually see a u-joint bellows leaking water in its to late and you, hear your gamble bearing making noise first.

I would say most time if it's leaking in the bilge it'scoming from the steering pin assembly.

Have the mechanic check the alignment of the engines. Don't need to wear out the splines on the coupler.

I have a very small leak. I do believe it is the bellows. I have no noise from the gimbals. Going to change all the bellows, gimbals, shift cables, trim senders, anodes and impellers. I don't want to go back into the drives for a while.
