Hi. I have a 2007 270 Amberjack with a 6.2 Horizon power package and I am looking to find other AJ owners to discuss the boat. Right now I am having water pressure problems with zero psi. I got the alarms going off but not a bit of over heating.
Sorry to introduce myself with a problem but I believe someone out there many have an answer. Thanks for any input!

Water Pressure Sensor is most likely bad.

Aloha back at you from Aloha, Oregon

Thanks for the welcome!

I thought it might be the sensor. Any idea where that little puppy lives? I am also having a tough time finding a replacement on the internet.

Thanks

Aloha Dony!

I don't know where the sensor is on your boat, but I will be in Honolulu at the end of the month on business.

If you take me fishing when I get there....I'll help you find it and change it!

Welcome Dony!

Boating with Honolulu as your home port must be great. How does a 270 handle it? What is the typical size boat in your marina? Aren't there more sail than power?

I live on Oahu just east of downtown. There are a lot of power boats but sail seems to be the prefered vessel. Glacier Bay Cat is one of the most popular boats here and outboard is the most popular form of power. I don't like the way Cats handle and my view is mutual with many other other so I think it's a Hawaii status thing. I out ran a Glacier Bay 36 with twin 200's the other day in heavy seas. My 270 handles great and I have had to run her in 6 to 8 foot seas occationally. She sits very stable in the water. She has the 6.2 Horizon with the Bravo III outdrive that gives me plenty of power to push through the heaviest seas. I can also island hop with this boat which was the main reason we bought her. Lots of Hawaiian built boats too. They are very basic and usually 20 to 22 feet in length and made for the hardcore local for fishing. Small craft warning or not they still fish.

Very nice! I lived in Waikiki about 15 years ago (pre-boating). I would love to move there again and bring our boat with us.

Aloha,

Problem solved! I found the water pressure sensor on the power steering cooler and pulled it out. I went to our only dealer here on the island and they gave me a replacement part under warrenty. They knew exactly what I had in my hand before I even spoke. The faulty sensor has been an ongoing problem for Mercruiser so no questions asked. Mine was only a year old.

My boat runs like a charm again!

Thanks everyone for your input.
