Almost got on the rocks

That spot between the cut and Tobay is usually pretty good, but Sandy screwed everything up and the season afterwards was a guessing game. I found the bottom on the east side of the cut outside the entrance to Gilgo that summer. Guys we’re running aground there all that summer.

That definitely makes sense since the Sea Tow guy was literally two minutes away for me LOL I heard earlier that season somebody was delivering a big Sea ray with Zeus pods that were torn off I want to say ...coming out of the Lindenhurst cut or maybe it was the Babylon ... Where is your Marina on the South Shore?

I’m not in a marina. I own a piece of property (50’ of bulkhead) on the east side of the Venice Canal in Lindenhurst/Copiague, two blocks off the bay. Just enough to squeeze my boat in.
The canal is just west of Indian Island.
Not a bad deal. Just 7 1/2 miles from my driveway, or a 20 minute ride.

I am in Merrick bay at Sunrise Yacht Club great little spot member owned mostly fish out of Jones Inlet but in the summertime I’m at fire Island with the family I’m about a 15 minute drive away from the club

Nice! Great spot. My daughter’s boyfriend’s parents keep their boat at Blue Water in Merrick.
Long Island may be ugly, crowded, too expensive and have insane property taxes but it’s tough to beat the boating here.
It’s pretty much a boating paradise from April through October.
We do a day most weekends at Zack’s, spend some overnights at Tobay (can’t beat the resident senior rate), try to get to Sailor’s Haven a couple of times, and a late season trip Upstate. Love boating in, around, through the City too. Can’t beat the views from the water.

Couldn’t agree with you more it’s probably the only thing is still keeping me on this island ,the water and the fishing I have a few friends over at blue water small world They have a few sons who knows lol

Yeah, turning 65 this month so it looks like this is a life sentence for me. If it were up to me I’d be down in Delaware or something and docked in the vicinity of the C&D canal.
Had kids later in life. One just graduated college (she got a job/apt. in the city) and the other just finished his freshman year. Neither one looks like they want to leave the region which means I’ll never get the wife to agree to flee so making the most of it.
Boating makes it a whole lot easier.
