Hello,
I going to transfer my 48 DB from Alexandria Bay NY to Panama City Florida.
Has anyone done this trip?
What would be the best root?
Any info will be helpfull.
Thanks,
Ken

Across the canal, down the Hudson, down the east coast, across lake ocachobee, up the gulf. expensive, but unforgetable trip. Truck probably cheaper

I have done the last 1/2. It was a 4 day trip for us, but we started in W Palm Beach. If you plan to cross the lake, you need to check on the state of the lake first. There are times when it is too low to pass. There are 5 locks Coast to Coast. There are several no wake zones. On our first day, we made it from W Palm to Moorehaven, just West of the lake. On the second day, we only made it to the West Coast and then North in the ICW a bit. On the third day we made it to Cedar Key (only areas to anchor - no docking, no fuel). Then, we made it all the way to PCB.

In your boat, you'll probably cross from the Tampa area to PCB or Apalachicola to the East of PCB. It's about 180 miles to Apalach.

I the lake is low, you'll need to head down into the keys and across into Fl Bay. I can't remember the first opportunity to do so. It may be at Marathon under the 7-mile bridge, but don't quote me on that.

What other info are you looking for?

Thanks folks!

I've completed the east coast trip many times, was wondering if I should look into taking the tennesse and missisippi rivers?

I have a buddy that just did the rivers. He's in Marco Island right now. He said it is very boring. He didn't recommend it. Take the East coast again, just stay in different areas. Also, see Turtle's recent post regarding the trip from your area to the Carolina's. He did some inside cruising that you may find interesting. Another note about the lake - Stay in the channel in the lake across Fl, then, watch the spoil grounds on the SW side of the lake.
