When washing dishes, my sea ray monitor beeps at me and reads Pump Alarm Forward Emergency. Is this normal?

Thanks

Your sink drain must be leaking into the forward bilge area. Your forward bilge pump is draining water from an area that should only be wet if you were sinking.

Great...It did it when we were cleaning up to head home. I'll dig into it next weekend.

Thanks,
Tim

Your galley sink most likely drains into the FWD sump. Mine did until I routed it to the overboard drain a few seasons ago. Your FWD drain sump box is not pumping out and is over flowing or is leaking into your fwd bilge. The fwd bilge pump sets that alarm off.

As mentioned above mine did this when my sump pump gave up the ghost. The sump box had just enough of a gap in the lid that water was leaking into the bilge, hence the emergency pump would operate.

Easy repair...assuming you can access your forward sump?

Wouldn't the sea ray monitor read forward bilge?

It doesn’t read the pump inside the sump box because it would go off all the time. It reads the pump in the forward bilge (which shouldn’t get water unless there is an issue so that is why it triggers the monitor) and high water pumps in the stern and mid bilges.

Actually my monitor does read out (no alarm) that the sump box pump is activated. You have to be watching the monitor to ever see this. I only noticed this last season when my sump pump was going off every 20 seconds because it needed a new check valve.
