Looking for help.
I have a 1995 220 signature select with a 7.4 carb Bravo
the impeller went and it overheated and hydro locked the engine. I got it running again and aft 5 mins the alarm started continously beeping and it wont stop, (until i cut the wire) I sea trialed it and it ran great, the temp stayed at 165 and oil pressure at 40, any one have any ideas , Im going to have to reconnect the alarm.:smt100

it has to be 1 of 3 of the sensors. oil pressure switch, tem switch or the gear oil switch. just start disconnecting them one at a time. the temp switch is on the thermostat housing. one of them is for the gauge unplug it and see if temp gauge drops. If it does you know its the other one for the alarm. gear oil alarm, just unplu 1 of the wires on the bottom of the gear oil bottle. oil pressure switch is either next to the distributor on port side or above oil filter on block under port exhaust manifold. if you have a remote oil filter follow oil lines down to area then go up a few inches.

If it actually ran into a hydro-locked situation how likely is it to have started again, let alone run fine? Ingesting water into the combustion chamber and having smash and bend the valves (water does not compress) is what typically happens in a hydro lock situation. Hopefully that's not what actually happened with yours. More likely just a shutdown due to overheating?

Be sure to check the engine oil to make sure it hasn't gotten any water in it. You may have much bigger problems if it's got any sort of milky consistency to it instead of the typically black oil. Like a blown head gasket (less worse) or a cracked water jacket in the block (lots worse).

It actually Hydro locked after I shut it down, I had to pull all the plugs crank it over to pump all the water out of the cylinders, and put denatured alcohol in the cylinders,
change the plugs and it ran great except for the alarm, I reconnected the alarm today and it was fine, thanks for responding, Dave
