Help...I just replaced the oil pressure sending unit in my 97 Signature 230, 5.7 L Mercruiser and now the alarm won't stop sounding. The one I replaced was falling apart...the oil pressure on the gauge read between 0 and 5 psi...but no alarm. With the new sending unit gauge reads about 40 psi at idle (don't know if that's high)...and the alarm won't stop sounding....and suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

What happens when you disconnect it? If it continues then that isn't the problem, probably low drive fluid. If it stops the you have a bad sender.

Unplug and it still sounds and the drive fluid is full...
:-(

Float could be stuck in the drive fluid reservoir. Unplug it and see if it stops. Very basic system not much makes it alarm. Oil pressure, drive fluid and overheat.

The sender you replaced has nothing to do with the alarm. The one you replaced drives the gauge - there is another sensor that feeds the alarm.

No, 40psi is not high - regardless, there is no alarm for high oil pressure.

Steady beeps, drive fluid... or constant horn, low oil pressure or overheat.
Constant horn...even from cold start... So definitely not an overheat problem an oil pressure is good... It's driving me crazy

Like LD pointed out, there is a sender for the gauge and another for the ECM. Little one up top is ECM

I'll look at things in the morning...the really annoying thing is there was no alarm until I replaced the sending unit :-(

And there are 2 senders for the cooling system as well, same deal.
Quite simple though, you keep unplugging shit until the noise stops
