I'm helping my Uncle get his 1992 180 bowrider/outboard running again and need some help. Engine was fully serviced 2 years ago, driven once and dry-docked since. We got it in the water over the weekend and running well again with a new battery, but we have a constant beep alarm. Temp and voltage are good, oil injection system full, but still beeping. The one problem is the fuel gauge is not working, showing less than empty when you turn the key on. Could that cause an alarm? We filled the tank about 1/4 full, so we know there is fuel in there.

I'm a shade tree car mechanic, but boats are new to me. Any help would be appreciated.

So I've done some reading and it doesn't sound like the low fuel level is alarmed. I still need to get that gauge working again, but I really need to figure out the alarm issue. One suggestion I read is the oil injection tank sensor may be bad. This has had oil in it continuously, so I'm not sure why it would go bad just sitting there. Do these foul up over time possibly?

Need to find a maintenance book for the engine. Might give you some guidance on where sensors are located and how to check them.

The way I found the correct manual for my engines is do a search using the motors S/N.

Good luck. Hopefully a wire is just loose.
