Alarm Problem

I have a 2005 260 with a 350 MAG MPI Bravo III. The other day, I went over a couple of small wakes. The engine alarm chirped with each landing, but stopped right away. All guage readings were normal.

I few moments later, the alarm came on and stayed on. Oil pressure, water temp and outdrive oil levels were all OK. (those are the only systems monitored by the alarm, according to the manual)

The really wierd thing was that I could not turn off the alarm. I shut off the engine, then the batteries, then pulled each fuse and tripped each breaker one by one...the alarm continued. I finally had to pull the cables off of battery II to make it stop!

After I got the boat home 2 hours later, I hooked up the battery and now no alarm. The boat ran, rode/felt normal. All guages showed good, engine oil and outdrive oil was full, and the engine didnt feel abnormally hot.

Any ideas?

Thanks, and that's a great suggestion, but I didn't think of it while my ears were hammered. Looking up the alarm in the manual only touched on the things the alarm covered..no mention of the Smartcraft. I'll check the setting to see if there are any clues, and look at it if the alarm returns. In the meantime, anyone know of any other possibilities?

The thing is, though, with Smartcraft the alarm can go off for many things. Best to run it again, or look to see if there is still a fault showing.

I ran the boat today. Everything was OK, including the Smartcraft system. Hate these intermitent problems!
