Spent the day on the hook just off the main runway at Tyndall Air Force Base with about 80 other boats. We were in grand company with at least 6 or 7 other Sea Rays from Treasure Island Marina. It was a spectacular day weather wise although chilly in the wind which blew most of the day at a steady 15+ We saw two great flt demo's from an F-15 and later in the day an F-22 which has thrust vectoring engine nozzels. The F-22 did things in the air that a fighter should not be able to do...

The top off of the day was the Blue Angels...while they flew for the show crowd at the base they seemed to make an effort to make a number of passes right over the boats. On several occasions the two solo planes came in behind us at near super sonic speed. It was a great show.

IT WAS A GREAT DAY TO BE AN AMERICAN

For all our Sea Ray friends in the cold north spring is not far away.

Lee,

I was about 2 miles from you in the CONR AOC. I was able to get outside to watch some of the shows, but I let others go out to see the Blue Angels. I saw the Blues twice a couple of years ago at Tyndall. Once from where you were, and you're right, they do target the boat crowd. The other day was from the Control Tower. I used my military leave option from Delta to be the Supervisor of Flying in the tower for the Airshow. My sister-in-law was a guest with me and she was in total awe. Good shows.

Of all of the weekends I had to work, the timing on this one was bad, but the weather was marginal most of the time so it did make me feel a little better, but I'm glad to see that you and so many others did get out on the water for the show. As I came over the bridge at 1:30, I looked out at all of you guys. I saw a good spattering of mid-sized cruisers, tons of smaller boats, and a few large ones as well. There were about 3 or 4 raft-ups going on. Hope you enjoyed it. I'll be out there next year.

I ran into the F-15 demo pilot in the club Fri Night after work. He recognized me as one of his F-15 instructors from 2004 or 2005 (been here 12 years). There was a group of guys waiting to talk to me - all previous students, and now on one team or another. It was really rewarding. The F-15 demo is a great show. I'm glad to see that they modified the Raptor show to climb out from the 60 knot pass instead of lowering the nose and flying out of it. Much more impressive that way.

John,
The only down side to the show was the Raptor did not extend out over the boats, on one of his or her passes but hey I can't get everything I want. Blue # 6 came over the boat from the west at just below the sound barrier because he was gone before the roar, Susan was almost in the water.
John, I have to tell you, when I see you guys fly these machines I get goose bumps and tears in my eyes. Thank you so much for what you do.

Thank you for watching. I've got to tell you, when I'm doing it, I look over my shoulder waiting to see who's coming to accuse me of breaking some rule. When I watch, I get goose bumps and a tear in my eyes too.
