So yesterday while winterizing I used the blue air pump to pump air into engines to open drain valves. Only one side of the engine drain opened and only one green indicator popped. And it did the same thing on the other engine also. Anyone have same experience or can tell me how to get both to open?

Thanks -

Pump it up more, although the system may be clogged with scale.

I wouldn't suggest using just the air system. I'd still fill the block with antifreeze unless you are storing indoor heated or temps don't go that low. The air system isn't 100% and not designed for a hard freeze.

I did ours with the single air drain system. But both sides opened. Then drained the mufflers & bumped the engines.Guess I won't know for sure if it worked till spring.Should probably quit reading threads like this I think there affecting my sleep LOL.

I didn't trust mine even after pulling the blue plugs.......ran pink thru them also

Peckerhead huh, are you in the hvac business, the term peckerhead is a slang term used thru out the industry

only one pooped for me....any help would be great!

As mentioned it's likely scaled up. I would suggest running Salt-away through the exhaust system. It may take a few flushes.
That may clear it our enough to free it up.

BUT I highly recommend you run Antifreeze through the whole system as the final method of winterizing the exhaust system.

yes john i am.....peckerhead comes from the electrical box on a large drive motor., i do industrial refrigeration tech, ice rinks an such.

i was told to make sure the tubes are not switched, try to reverse the lines and see if they pop!

Years ago one of our young techs wrote "peckerhead" on his ticket, man we had a ball with that. We do commercial hvacr........no residential at all.

I keep my boat in the water now year round. I use a bilge heater. But as a precaution, I drain. When the boat is in the water however, the drain never stops watering. Eventually, I have to vent the pressure release. I'm assuming that this is because one drain is actually below the water level. Is this correct?

I may be wrong but I believe the seacock needs to be class for the air drain to work properly. Otherwise you are just pulling sea water with the vacuum created. Can someone confirm my suspicion?
