Well another Fourth of July fireworks cruise was survived. It really rivals the wild wild west here on the gulf coast of Florida. At least until we arrived back at the dock for the night. We are a 2002 310 DA with a Cruisair A/C-Heat unit with SMX II. When we got back the fan came on and everything seemed fine. After rinsing & securing, it became apparent the A/C had a problem. I shut off power to the A/c for a minute. Turned it on to cool. The fan came on ok. A few seconds later the compressor clicked and the 2 seconds later another click. Then the seawater pump kicked on. No cooling. The scenario repeated itself again and again. No codes on the SMX. Granted the water temp is now 87 degrees, but the compressor failed to come on even before the seawater pump. Up until today - no problems. Seawater strainer &
lines just cleaned. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like not enough voltage and the system is protecting itself. I had the same problem at the marina. 1 leg was 100 volts and other 115. I switched the power cords to allow the circuit with the large a/c unit and freezer and fridge wala a/c came on no problem. Anything under 105 and your going to have some issues.

SOLTION:
It turns out it was the hi-temp / low voltage limit switch on top of the compressor (under the plastice cover @ the ac power line connections). If it tests as "open" with an ohmeter - its bad. Twenty six dollars - not at all bad in Sea Ray money. Also the people @ Cruisair very helpful in confirming diagnostics.

That would have been my 2nd guess after the run capacitor...$12.50 at Graingers just in case you ever need one.

Thanks for the info... That was on my list of future things to ask about... air blows ice cold...when or after it starts... now I know what to look for...

Thanks again..
