2006 340 dancer sportsman putting in an ac unit up on the helm. I need to fish a 10 gauge wire from the panel in the cabin to the engine compartment. Are there any tricks or easy ways?
Just want to be safe with wire gauge. Less resistance more load capacity. I will start poking around at it over the weekend and see what happens. Just wanted to know if there was a specific route to the box, sounds like Kevin c route might be best path. For a 15A 120 VAC you only need 14ga. Why 10Ga? Nothing wrong with going bigger, but a lot more cost.
AC is MUCH less impacted by wire distance and gauge compared to DC circuits. You don’t need to go to 10 gauge. The installation manual will tell you the minimum to use and probably says 14. But hey, its your boat and your money.Just want to be safe with wire gauge. Less resistance more load capacity. I will start poking around at it over the weekend and see what happens.
