Air conditioner

Hi,

We've had our 370 Sundancer 1996' for a few weeks now. Imported from Miami, FL to Sweden. Since our climate here is far more cold (read freeezing!) we don't have air conditioners in general, especially not in boats!

But we do need to use the heat from the air conditioner in the boat. Don't have the papers with me here and thought i would just post something to see what I can find out. It's really my husband that is the boat "expert" but I'm learning as I go.

There's a CruisAir system installed in the boat. What's the deal with the water flushing, is it suppose to flush out (don't know the exact terms in English) at all times during heating? We turn the heat on, it runs good for a few minutes and than shuts off and the display says P5. Or Low AC. And than a few times there's been water flushing out like crazy and than the heat seems to be a lot warmer, which makes me think that's the way it's suppose to act?

The unit uses the refrigeration system to remove heat from the sea water in order to warm the cabin. If the sea water temperature is too low, you may receive a low pressure warning, which is LO PS. If the water flow is insufficient or the refrigerant gas in the unit is low, a LO PS warning may also occur.

LO AC is displayed when the supply voltage drops below a set point, which I think was 108 volts.

Best regards,
Frank

Thank you for replies. Than we should investigate the pressure in the system if I'm not totally misunderstanding. Which I'm guessing we do in the pump thing...
Of course the water here is not very warm now and maybe we're going to have to look into an alternative heat source somehow.
There are a few things that differs from the US to European system such as electrical stuff and we still haven't gotten the tv's to work. :smt001
And are totally nervous about the winter storage with all the hoses and waterlines and such since it will drop below freezing here... we thought we had thought about everything before we bought the boat, but noooo! But in general the boat is great!

Televisions won't work. Europe uses a PAL system for broadcasts that are not high-definition. The US uses NTSC. Totally incompatible. Probably least expensive route is replacement.

You may run into some A/C issues also because not only the voltage is different, but also the frequency of the power is different. 60 Hz in the U.S. vs. 50 Hz in Europe. The frequency difference causes electric motors to run more slowly, for example 3000 RPM instead of 3600. You lose about 17% of capacity. Not sure if that is material to your problem. The pressure test must be performed by someone who can service air conditioning systems. The refrigerant used is probably R-22, chlorodifluoromethane I think, for your system.

Huh... more things to buy than! But one of the TV's has a dvd player in it, of course it says it's the wrong region, but that we should be able to change I hope. Been reading about some converter type digital box you can buy to make it into PAL, but maybe like you said the easiest way is just to change the tv. Than we should be able to get it on 12V instead of on the 110 too...
