A while back there was something on here about Searay giving new drip pans to folks with rusty water in theirs. My forward unit on a 2007 44DB has a 1/2 inch of rusty water in it and I know it will be problematic down the road. Any help here will be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Keypad

Others may be able to offer advice on "sweet talking" Sea Ray into "giving" things.

Since the pan is attached to the compressor unit, you'll need to pull the whole unit out. You may have to drill out some rivits and remove some bolts to remove the old pan.

When my unit was replaced, the hardest part was standing on my head to get to the thing. Disconnecting the wiring, hoses and ductwork wasn't too bad (remember to shut the breaker off). Pan was attached to the fiberglass mount with some sort of epoxy/adhesive - a heavy duty paint scraper was needed to pop it loose.

New unit came with a plastic pan and used clips to reattach to the mount. Took a little over an hour to swap out. I sure don't miss cleaning the rust stains off the hull anymore.

My dealer was doing some new boat inspections the other day and told me that my pan was not angled correctly and thus there was standing water in the pan. He adjusted to improve the drain but told me he ordered a new non corrosive pan and was repairing under warranty. I guess in the 2008 model the pan was still an issue.

If you find a way to deal with DometicUS (the CruiseAir folks), good luck and let me know. I have two rusted pans and I tried everything I could do other than pay them $160 per pan...and all I got was "drop dead...talk to our parts person with a credit card in hand". Carter Chapman got his comp'ed, I think.

I had the pan replaced with a non-rusting new pan. Dealer (MM) went to bat for me and got the pan no charge from Cruise Air, I paid $100 to have dealer install the new pan. Have your dealer try and get a replacement pan for you. $100 for the install I thought was reasonable.

i did not see my info go through so here goes agin > I did not know the reason for the stains but solved the issue withh a bout a foot of clear vinyl hose > put about 2 inches in each air exit port > then leave about one half inch sticking out . The water will then never hit the hull > i glued the peices in with bathroon cualk or nothing if the diameter is tight to the port hole size >

If your boat is less than four years old, Cruiseair will send you a replacement - free. If more than four years old - as JediJD said - get out the credit card. $160 for a 2005 340. I got the "right" guy and he sent me one...haven't replaced it yet - Windjammer has been busy and doesn't have the time to do it!!!

On my 05 Sundancer, my hull stain was not caused by a rusty AC drip pan. It was caused by algie in the shower sump that also is the drain from the AC drip pan. The discharge pump in the sump shuts off leaving about 3" of water in the plastic sump after pumping the sump down. Thus the algie growth. Problem solved by adding plastic tubing on the hull discharge.

I wanted to add to my pervious post that my drip pan always has at least 3/8 " of water in it. The drain hose is that high from the bottom of the pan and will not drain all the water out.
