Hey Muzbomb,

It is bad etiquette to post the same thing in multiple threads. Most of the CSR members use the "new posts in last 24 hours" feature and will see your post.

Oh and Welcome to Club Sea Ray!

I have a Corsa Exhaust on my boat. It will be louder all right. At idle it really sounds good. On plane it is pretty loud in the boat, but about 50-75 foot away not that loud at all. You will get slightly better fuel economy and a little more top end with it open than closed. When it is closed, it will not completly block off the exhaust until you get going. I like it on my boat.

Hey how much would Corsa Exhaust cost??

About 2 K if you do it yourself. If you go straight thru the transon and block off the outlets on the drive you could get away with it for about 750.

Ok well there goes that idea 2K!! I will be putting on a tower before i spend 2K on exhaust!!! LOL Thanks guys

muz, I suspect those who boat around you will sincerely appreciate the fact that you put a wakeboard tower on your boat much more than they would if you made it louder. Most of us go boating to enjoy a QUIET day on the water, not to be assaulted by someone's loud exhaust.

Just saying.....

Lord, yes. Couple of weeks ago we were relaxing and swimming in a cove, when we heard this loud rumble approaching. 3 minutes later the boat showed up, with an aftermarket open exhaust (illegal in VA, BTW). We ended up having to listen to his LOUD engine for about 20 minutes. This is a fairly small lake (narrow, less then 5 miles long), very residential, and there is no need to add a couple percent to the top end speed at the expense of everyone within a mile.

If you do add it, don't use it in populated areas. And shut it off when you are going slow. You might enjoy the rumble, but most of the people around you won't.

I guess I'm just echoing those above. I tend to try to fly below the radar but I will admit I love the sound of a healthy V-8 starting up with open pipes. Beyond that, too many miles of too many loud Cummins, Detroits and Cats over the years make me really enjoy a nice quiet ride nowadays.

I would file this under; "The right to throw your fist stops at the other man's nose."

A loud boat may be fun for you, but for others around you there is no escaping it.

Unless he gets huge tower speakers and blasts cRap music from them!

Wow, so just because I have thru hull on my boat I am a dick now or act a certain way? You don’t even know who I am or how I am. I think that maybe you should not stereotype so much. Maybe that I would be correct in saying that people with large boats or are from the east coast and great lakes are know it all asses. Is that you? Of course you would say it isn’t.
I am very conscientious boater. When I am around other boats with loud exhausts, it is open, when I am around quieter boats I keep it closed. Guess that makes me a dick, well so be it. We all go out on our boats for different reasons. I really enjoy the fact that my family and I can go out somewhere and kick back and enjoy the day on my boat. I also think that you and many other enjoy the same thing. It is your right. Most boaters that I run into are a really good lot and welcome others with open arms. I recently went to a Yacht Club dock party after cruising my boat over 100 miles up the intercostal. I had the smallest and LOUDEST boat there at 21 foot. Most were sail boaters and they welcomed me with open arms. Perish the thought, but some were even interested in my little loud Sea Ray and wanted a ride in it with the exhaust open. Hell, some even gave me ride to get fuel at the land based gas station. I guess that maybe I might be worth knowing even if I have a loud boat after all. But some will not be able to get past their prejudice.
When I bought my Sea Ray I was really happy to belong to this elite family of boaters. I have enjoyed boating for many years, get the Coast Guard Vessel Safety check every year and try to promote this hobby every chance I get. But I get the feeling that this is not an elite family of boaters, but just some elitists. Arguing over the internet is useless but this just pissed my off. Maybe my expectations of fellow Sea Ray owners being welcoming and friendly was a little high. I guess I will just spend more time with the Loud boat people.
I was in boat club with other loud boat people that have some really high dollar boats. I had, and still do have a 69 model Weimann Jet boat. A $2600, 18 foot boat and every one was more than welcoming. They didn’t care that my boats exhaust exited under the water, was quiet, or anything else. They welcome me because I was a boater. They didn’t make judgments based on the sound of my boat or anything else.
That one guy that wants to put exhaust on your boat, bring it on down. I will help you. Then you and I can go find some of these other “boaters” and circle around them with the exhaust open so we can rise to their expectations.
I am really looking forward to the reply guys.

You may be the nicest, sweetest, most fantastic person to ever walk the earth. But when you are driving that open exhaust around in public, where there are people who are just trying to have a nice, quiet good time, then you may be perceived otherwise.

Owning an open exhaust isn't the problem. It's how and when people use them that make trouble.

That is my point. The exhaust isnt the issue. The person is. A few speeding drivers out there does not mean that all should get tickets. Being labeled due to the exahaust I have on my boat is stupid. I am a responsible boat operator and just because I like the rumble of a V-8 on the water does not mean I am not considerate.

It seems that several on this board feel that how you use your boat, the kind you have or the exhaust you have defines you as a person. Does that mean all people from Arkansas are married to their sister?

Red Horse, that's SC you're talking about and only if she's hot. I had the Corsa exhaust on my 270SD and never got any complaints but I made sure not to fire it up open at 7am while in the slip. I liked the sound but got tired of it after a while...it was loud at speed. It came with the HO engine option, I wouldn't have ordered it special. I tried not to overdo it and most times if guys turned their head to see what was making the noise it was with a wistful look and smile on their face.
