Aft Flag Mount '05 340 - Hampton's style

Hey Philip.

I just did that a couple of weeks ago - I had to fly the flag, but didn't want it on my antenna for the trip, so, I went to my SR dealer and ordered the set. I asked him to look up the parts for a 2008 340. I'm not sure that that is what I ended up getting because it doesn't say SR on it, but it's very nice. It's a bolt-through mount that is angled nicely. It has a heavy magnet in the base. As I went to the local hardware store for mounting parts, eveything in my hand was sticking to the base - bolts, washers, car keys...

I drilled a slightly larger hole with a hole saw. I wanted it over to starboard, but didn't want some wacky angle outboard as the transom is curved. I checked behind the area, and drilled the hole. I slid the mount in place, oriented it in the proper direction using the flag pole as a guide (slid it in place for a test). I then drilled the bolt holes and fitted WAY oversized washers on the back, smaller washers, and nuts. I glued the assembly in place with 4200 and then tightened everything down together.

It was hard to find a flag that fit, but finally got an 18" tall flag at the 3rd West Marine that I visited.

John,
Is that flag pole permanently glued in place using the 4200?

No. The mounting slot is, but the pole comes out and stows as required. The magnet in the bottom of the base holds the pole in very, very, very firmly, but when there is not sufficient lighting to pay appropriate respect to the flag, then you just pull it out and store it respectively.

Looks good.

I just chose the base that I didn't have to drill the larger hole through for. The mast is from my Grandfather's old boat.

I installed the same on my boat. Ordered from Searay and mine came with the flag. I really like the mount and the magnet in the bottom holds the staff well. Nice install Hampton, mine is installed in the same manner. Easy do it your self project.
