Hello all,
I need to replace both shift canles on my 2002 280DA and was wondering if any additional parts are needed for job, considering drives need to be pulled.

Looking for real-life insights, as I know Manufacturer's love to add a lot of unnecessary parts and labor hours to service reccomendations.

TIA!

Have the manual? Only other item I use is a control cable core wire.Due to the fact that in some boats you cannot reach where the cable goes with your hand.Any ?`s pm me
Remove the plastic sleeve, guide shaft from inside the boat.remove drive, shift slide and core. From inside the boat insert solid control core wire untill it exists the old cable.
Remove old cable and slide off control wire.
Cut the old shift boot away, cafefully slide wire back and install new boot , then slide wire back thru the boot and glue boot in place.
Pass control wire thru new cable and use a small vise grip to clamp on the core wire.Have someone pull the core wire from inside the boat while you feed it from outside.
The core wire pulls the new cable core in exactly how the old one was.Once new core is inside the remove vise grip and control cable core.
Finish installation per the manual.

Thanks, I actually found the manual and that will help, along with your write-up.

I'm going to get her out of the water after the holiday to be buffed, and
Was thinking I could do my shift cables at the same time.

And inspect/ change your gimbal bearing and driveshaft and exhaust bellows and water inlet hoses while your there. And while your there change the sending unit switches, 2 x each drive. That way your done for yrs, don't go halfa*#×!
