I had the carbs on my motors rebuilt and they are running great. I worry I stil have is that when I stop to hang out on the hook for a while I get a whiff of fuel. I'm guessing that maybe the rebuilt carbs are running a little rich. I did not adjust the mixture screws when i installed the carbs. Does anyone remember how to adjust the mixture on a carb'ed motor?

with the engine completely warmed up to operating temperture, turn the mixture screw clockwise slowly until you hear a decrease in RPM. Not the position of the screw at this point. Next.....turn the mixture screw counterclockwise until you hear a decrease in RPM. Note the position of the mixture screw at this point and then turn the mixture screw half way between the two noted points.

Basically screw it in until the engine slows, then screw it out until the engine slows again and then set the screw in the middle of those two point.

Not to jump in.. but.. I attempted this and noticed -no- rpm change with adjusting either screw (have 2) ideas??

Sounds like your valve seats are shot or a vacuum problem with both screwed in all the way engine should stall the idle fuel mixture is on the left looking from the front of engine the idle speed is on the right. I just set mine and the choke here is a good site to explain how to do it.
